Priyadarshan is one of a few directors who have made a mark/tasted success/achieved recognition in more than 1 indian language. His main asset is Srinivasan, who has penned most of the stories, in which Priyadarshan directed them. Even the script for Siraichalai/Kaala Paani was written by Srinivasan. Off late, he has resorted to making slapstick humour movies in hindi and remake movies , before the constant ramblings of critics made him make Kancheevaram.
Priyadarshan was an aspiring cricketer, before a freak accident while playing cricket, cost him an eye. Another cricket aspirant who made it big in another profession is Rajdeep Sardesai , CNN-IBN's editor in chief.
The title track is a subtle synchronization of various instruments with occasional preludes of the songs in the movie. Its been four years since Manohar(Karthik) committed suicide and no one knows what happened to Kalyani(BhanuPriya) and one fine day, these four roommates (minus Janakaraj) of Karthik receive a letter from Kalyani asking them to meet her. Filled with confusion, fear, curiosity and lust, they embark on this journey to meet Kalyani.
